The foundation is laid: The Elbphilharmonie in the
Miniatur Wunderland
On November 14th, the gigantic miniature project starts. The film »Schöne Aussichten« provides a taste of what the Elbphilharmonie will be in miniature format.
A wooden baton, enclosed by a couple square centimetres of air: Ceremoniously, the »Mayor of Knuffingen« Frederik Braun along with the Senator for Culture Professor Barbara Kisseler and General and Artistic Director of the Elbphilharmonie Christoph Lieben-Seutter laid the contents in the cornerstone for Hamburg’s newest miniature landmark.
This is a beginning of an enormous miniature project: In the following months, the Elbphilharmonie and parts of the HafenCity will be erected in the Hamburg area of the Miniatur Wunderland. »Since things are moving along slowly on the Kaiserkai, we thought about bringing the construction site here to us in the Speicherstadt. It’s good that we can build our Elbphilharmonie in one-twelfth of the time and at two thousand, three hundred, eightieth of the price of the neighbouring philharmonic house. No doubt, we’ll finish our project first!«, says Frederik Braun, founder of the Miniatur Wunderland. The fundament has already been laid and a majority of the approximately 3,000 necessary pieces have been sketched and produced. Experts calculate that after ca. 5,500 working hours, the Elbphilharmonie will be finished in Spring 2013.
